Benjamin Asare Reveals Secret Behind Clean Sheet Success
Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has shared the driving forces behind his impressive clean sheet record.
With 12 clean sheets in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, Asare’s performances earned him a maiden call-up to the senior national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Asare attributes his success to a combination of hard work, rigorous training, preparation, and a strong mindset.
“As a player, the secret is hard work; training, preparation, and mindset. You have to be aggressive about it because, without these things, you cannot make it as a footballer,” he emphasized.
Asare’s experience with the Black Stars has been overwhelmingly positive, thanks to the warm reception he received from his teammates.
He singled out senior player Jordan Ayew for special praise, saying, “Special thanks to Jordan Ayew – he motivated me all the time and told me that, despite being a local player, I can do this.”
Benjamin Asare’s remarkable rise to the national team serves as a testament to the potential of local league talent. His performances have captivated the nation, demonstrating that players from the domestic league can thrive on the biggest stage.
Asare will aim to retain his position as the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming four-nation tournament in June.
The team will then face Chad and Mali in the Matchday 7 and 8 games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
