BECE registration is totally free – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a stern warning to school authorities to stop collecting money from parents for registering their children for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The GES emphasized that the registration is free, and anyone caught charging fees will face sanctions and potentially more severe penalties.

This warning comes after reports circulated on social media claiming that students were being asked to pay a fee to register for the BECE.

The GES has made it clear that no such directive has been given, and school authorities should cease this practice immediately.

According to Casandra Twum Ampofo, the Public Relations Officer for the GES, “Desist from any intention of taking money, or you put yourself into trouble”.

The GES aims to ensure that all students have equal access to the BECE registration process without facing financial burdens.

Parents are encouraged to report any instances of unauthorized fee collection to the relevant District Education Office.
