BECE Exams: Good luck to all Candidates but Parents Should Know FreeSHS is not Free – Ben Doe

Ben Doe, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Communications Team, has urged parents to start saving for their children’s secondary education as they prepare for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Ben Doe emphasized that while secondary education in Ghana is labeled as free under the Free Senior High School (FreeSHS) program, it still incurs significant costs.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem’ with host Citizen Kofi Owusu, the former Tema West Chairman of the NDC stressed the importance of financial preparation for parents.

“The FreeSHS program may be called free, but it is not cheap,” Ben Doe said. “Parents need to start saving now to cover the additional expenses that come with secondary education.”

During the interview, Ben Doe also wished the students good luck as they begin their exams. The 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) commence today, Monday, July 8, and will conclude on Monday, July 15, 2024.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) also released a statement on Sunday, July 7, congratulating the candidates for their hard work and perseverance. The GES expressed gratitude to teachers, Heads of Basic Schools, Directors of Education, parents, guardians, and all stakeholders for their essential roles in preparing the students for this significant milestone.

Ben Doe’s heartfelt wishes on Ahotor FM reflect his support and encouragement for all BECE candidates, urging them to do their best in the examinations.
