Bayern Munich Exploring Temporary Signing of Ghana Defender Daniel Amartey Amid Injury Crisis
German football giants Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a temporary contract for Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey to alleviate their current injury crisis, according to Merkur.
The 30-year-old free agent boasts extensive experience at the top level, having played for notable clubs such as Djurgardens IF, FC Copenhagen, and Leicester City.
Amartey’s early career in Sweden with Djurgardens IF showcased his defensive prowess and dynamic playing style. His impressive performances earned him a transfer to FC Copenhagen before making a significant move to the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016.
Amartey played a crucial role in Leicester’s historic title-winning season and remained a key player for several seasons, demonstrating his versatility as a center-back and defensive midfielder.
Bayern Munich is currently grappling with a defensive crisis due to injuries sustained by top players Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Ito. To address this issue, the club is exploring temporary signing options, with Amartey being a prime candidate.
Other contenders include Serge Aurier, a former PSG and Tottenham Hotspur player, and Mario Rui, a former AS Roma and Napoli left-back.
However, Bundesliga regulations prohibit the signing of free agents outside of transfer windows, making an immediate transfer unlikely.
Bayern Munich will need to navigate these regulatory constraints to bolster their defense and mitigate the impact of their injury crisis.
