
Former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on African policymakers to adopt a forward-thinking approach by leveraging technology and innovation as key drivers of economic transformation.
Speaking at the 27th Annual Conference of Beyond Borders at Harvard University, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the critical role of digitalization in accelerating Africa’s development.
He emphasized that by embracing modern technology, African nations can overcome longstanding economic and infrastructural challenges, boost efficiency in governance, and create new opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Bawumia cited examples of successful digital reforms in Ghana, including mobile money interoperability, digital property addressing systems, and e-governance initiatives, as models that other African nations can adopt.
He urged leaders across the continent to invest in digital infrastructure, promote tech-driven policies, and support innovation to drive economic growth.
