Bawumia assures defeated NPP candidates of roles in 2028 campaign

The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured candidates who lost in the party’s just-ended national delegates’ conference that they will have important roles to play in the party’s campaign ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Dr Bawumia said no member of the party would be left behind as the NPP begins preparations for the next general election.

Addressing the gathering at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026, he called for unity and collective effort among party members as the NPP seeks to return to power in 2028.

“You will be part of the campaign in 2028; there is work for everybody, and we are going to involve everybody,” Dr Bawumia said.

He acknowledged that winning the 2028 election would require a united and determined party, stressing that the NPP could not afford to underestimate the task ahead.

“Winning in 2028 will require unity; it will not be an easy election; we will have to work harder; we must work harder,” he added.

John Boadu pledges renewed NPP

The newly elected National Chairman of the NPP, John Boadu, has also pledged to lead efforts to build what he described as a renewed party ahead of the next general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected national executives at the delegates’ conference, Mr Boadu said the new leadership would serve the party with humility and work closely with members across all levels.

“Our task is to build a renewed NPP, one that listens and consults more. We are going to work closely with regional executives, constituents, external branches, and our MPs led by Afenyo-Markin,” he said.

He said the new executives would seek greater collaboration with the party’s grassroots structures and other stakeholders as they work to strengthen the NPP.

New national executives elected

The delegates’ conference, held in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, saw the election of new national executives to oversee the affairs of the party.

Daniel Titus Glover was elected as the National Organiser, while former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson, was elected as the National Women’s Organiser.

Justin Kodua Frimpong retained his position as General Secretary after securing a decisive victory in the hotly contested election.

Mr Kodua polled 4,486 votes, defeating former Member of Parliament for Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, who obtained 1,340 votes.

Eugene Boakye Antwi polled 162 votes, while Dr Charles Dwamena secured 126 votes.

Abanga Fuseini elected National Youth Organiser

Abanga Fuseini Yakubu was elected National Youth Organiser after emerging victorious in a keenly contested race involving six aspirants.

The election was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi as delegates voted to elect a new crop of national executives to lead the party.

Mr Abanga Fuseini secured 1,550 votes to defeat his five competitors.

Alfred Kumi Ababio polled 25 votes, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi obtained 44, Michael Osei Boateng secured 78, and Clement Opoku Gyamfi received 631 votes.

Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, who was then serving as Deputy National Youth Organiser, polled 46 votes.

The newly elected executives are expected to work with the party’s regional, constituency, external branch and parliamentary structures as the NPP begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.
