Bawumia and Napo: The team is not strong – Prof. Kobby Mensah

Political Marketing Strategist Professor Kobby Mensah has expressed doubts about the ability of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Matthew Opoku Prempeh to secure victory in the 2024 general elections.

Professor Mensah argued that Dr. Opoku Prempeh is among those responsible for what he terms the country’s current economic troubles.

He questioned the importance of the running mate selection, suggesting it distracts from more critical economic issues.

Speaking on Ahotor FM‘s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem‘ with host Nana Dogbe, Professor Kobby Mensah stated that the appointment of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is not strong enough to challenge the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming general elections.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has informed President Akufo-Addo that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is his choice for running mate in the December 2024 elections.

This announcement was made during a meeting between Dr. Bawumia and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on the night of June 25, 2024.

During the meeting, the President offered advice and shared his thoughts on the matter.

The next step is for the flag bearer to present Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s name to the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under the party’s constitution. If accepted, the party will proceed to officially announce Dr. Prempeh as the running mate.

Reacting to this on Ahotor FM, Professor Kobby Mensah emphasized that the NPP has a lot of work to do, as he believes the team of Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is not strong enough to secure a win.
