Barcelona president Joan Laporta threatened with motion of censure amid Dani Olmo saga

Victor Font demands answers from Joan Laporta and Barcelona over ‘intolerable’ Dani Olmo saga, per reports.

A report from Diario AS, chanced on by AhotorSports, have it that there’s consideration within some sectors of the club led by Victor Font – to have vote of no confidence in Laporta following his inability to register Spanish duo Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The two summer signings are technically no longer eligible to line out for Hansi Flick’s side as La liga have today, January 1, removed them from their website.

Barcelona had reportedly sent documentation to La Liga regarding the sale of VIP boxes which they believed would have delivered enough income to solve the registration issue but proved futile.

‘In certain circles there is already talk of a motion of censure and former presidential candidates such as Víctor Font are preparing press conferences to make known their point of view in the face of a failure, which if confirmed, will mark a before and after in the management of a Laporta who will need a lot of magic to get back on track”- Diario AS

Victor Font, a regular critic to Laporta’s administration, has called on president Joan Laporta to provide an explanation for the current situation regarding Dani Olmo and Pau Victor after failing to register the two players for Barcelona in the second half of the season, according to La Liga.

Font is clearly unhappy at the situation and demand answers from the under pressure Barca President, Juan Laporta.

“Given the seriousness of the events related to the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, and the terrible and inappropriate image of the best club in the world, we share the concern of all Barça fans for the dire sporting, economic and institutional consequences of this case,” he wrote on X.

“The result is the possible loss of a player who we signed four months ago for 55 million euros and who we now see may leave due to a management full of improvisations and an absolute lack of professionalism.

“We hope that the situation of the two players can be resolved, but we consider it intolerable that the top leader of Barça acts in this way and presents this image. That is why we demand that the board and president Joan Laporta immediately provide all the necessary explanations detailing what actions they have taken and what the consequences will be.”

Font radically put a list of specific questions he wants Laporta and the Barcelona Board to answer:

“We want to know the reason for signing such a valuable player knowing that we were exceeding Fair Play if, as has been demonstrated, we had no plan to resolve the situation.

“We want to know the reason for going to court if we knew that there was no recourse, as is evidenced in the resolutions issued by the judges.

“What actions is the club taking from now on to avoid the loss of Olmo and Pau Víctor.

“We want transparency about the operation to sell VIP seats at Camp Nou. Have we sold them? To which investors and under what conditions?

“We want to keep the hope alive that we won’t lose a player just four months after signing him for 55 million euros.”

Barca Board led by Juan Laporta

Barcelona are now faced with losing over £218M after La Liga rejected attempts to register attacking midfielder.

According to the Transfermarkt, Barcelona would still owe Olmo £41m ($51m) in wages for the remainder of his contract, which runs until 2030, even if he departs the club.

Additionally, the club is still obligated to pay RB Leipzig £47m ($59m) as part of the transfer agreement when they signed the forward.

Furthermore, Barcelona would miss out on any potential transfer fee for Olmo, whose market value is currently estimated at £53m ($66.5m).
