Barça Atlètic Defender David Oduro Sidelined for 2–3 Weeks

Barça Atlètic Ghanaian defender David Oduro has been ruled out for the next two to three weeks after sustaining a muscular injury in the adductor of his left leg. The promising young Ghanaian left-back, who joined the Barcelona reserve team from Accra Lions in August 2024, will unfortunately miss the final two matches of the current Segunda Federación season as a result of this setback.

Born on June 12, 2006, in Accra, Ghana, the 19-year-old Oduro stands at 1.74 meters tall and is known for his pace, attacking instincts, and ability to link up effectively with teammates from the left flank. He began his career in the youth ranks of Desideros FC before progressing through the renowned Accra Lions academy, where he eventually broke into the first team during the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League campaign. Over his time with Accra Lions, he accumulated around 50 senior appearances in the top flight of Ghanaian football, scoring one goal and establishing himself as a dynamic full-back capable of contributing both defensively and in forward transitions. He has also earned caps for Ghana at the U20 level, showcasing his potential on the international stage.

In a landmark move for Ghanaian talent, Oduro became the first player from his country to sign with FC Barcelona when the club secured his services on a three-year contract running until June 30, 2027. Since arriving at Barça Atlètic, the left-back has featured regularly for the reserve side, wearing the number 18 shirt and adapting to the demands of Spanish football. His performances have included moments of quality, such as netting his first goal for the team with a stunning free-kick in a league encounter earlier in the campaign, highlighting his technical ability and set-piece threat from the left side. Described by the club as a very quick left-back with good anticipation, Oduro has been viewed as a bright prospect within Barcelona’s development system, with the potential to progress further if he continues his upward trajectory.

This latest injury comes as a significant blow not only for the player but also for Barça Atlètic, who are navigating the closing stages of their league schedule in the fourth-tier competition. With just two fixtures remaining, the team will have to make do without one of their reliable options on the left side of defense. Medical assessments have confirmed the adductor issue as muscular in nature, and the expected recovery period of two to three weeks means Oduro is likely to focus on rehabilitation in the coming days, aiming to return fully fit ahead of any pre-season preparations or the start of the next campaign.

While sidelined, Oduro will no doubt use the time to strengthen the affected area and maintain his overall conditioning, ensuring he is ready to compete once cleared to resume training with his teammates at the Ciutat Esportiva or Estadi Johan Cruyff.
