Banahene Specialist Hospital has embarked on another corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness and improving access to early screening for residents of Spintex, Batsona, and the wider Tema enclave.
The two-day free breast cancer screening exercise is taking place at Marina Mall, targeting members of the public with free health checks and education on the importance of early detection and timely medical intervention.
The initiative is anchored on the message that “Early Detection Saves Lives,” with the hospital seeking to encourage the public to prioritise regular health checks and take proactive steps towards preventing and managing breast cancer.
Speaking on Ahotor FM 92.3 FM’s Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show, hosted by Alexander Nana Dogbey, Angela Osei-Bonso, a midwife at Banahene Specialist Hospital, urged residents to take advantage of the free screening exercise.
According to her, early detection remains one of the most effective ways of improving health outcomes, stressing that regular screening and prompt medical attention are essential to protecting lives and promoting quality healthcare.
She encouraged both women and men to make time for periodic health checks, despite their busy work schedules, noting that breast cancer awareness and early medical assessment should be a priority for everyone.
Osei-Bonso explained that the outreach programme forms part of the hospital’s broader commitment to extending healthcare services to communities and ensuring that more people benefit from quality healthcare delivery.
She added that the initiative is intended not only to provide screening services but also to educate the public on breast cancer, the importance of recognising potential warning signs, and the need to seek medical attention promptly.
As part of its continued community outreach efforts, Banahene Specialist Hospital is projecting another free breast cancer screening exercise for October 23–24, 2026, at Marina Mall. The upcoming exercise is expected to provide another opportunity for residents of Spintex, Batsona, and the wider Tema enclave to access screening services and breast cancer education.
The hospital is therefore calling on members of the public, particularly women and other eligible participants, to take advantage of the initiative and make their health a priority.
Through the outreach programme, Banahene Specialist Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to community health promotion, preventive healthcare, and improving public awareness of diseases that can be better managed when detected early.
The message remains clear: early detection, timely screening, and prompt medical attention can save lives.
