Ayra Starr has announced that she would not date a musician, even in her wildest dreams.
The award-winning Nigerian singer, who has yet to experience a fully committed relationship, stated that when she eventually starts dating, it won’t be someone from the music industry.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, when asked whether she would consider dating a fellow artist, she responded with humor: “In the dream world, it wouldn’t be anyone in the industry. Probably just a billionaire. On a yacht. In Dubai. In a thong,” referencing a viral social media trend about a stress-free lifestyle.
Discussing her dating life, the “Rush” singer revealed her relationship standards have significantly risen. “I’m so glad I wasn’t dating before starting my music career. I didn’t know what I was missing.
Now that I’ve waited this long, my standards are very high. If someone can’t meet them, it’s a quick goodbye. Plus, I barely have time for myself, let alone for a guy.” During a recent interview with Dazed Magazine in September 2024, Ayra expressed her desire for love.
“I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ to envision what love would be like for me,” she shared.
While she considers herself a romantic at heart, she admitted to being quite single, clarifying that she has never been in a fully committed relationship. “I’m just very strong headed about it. I have never truly been in love… I’ve had experiences, but nothing like a committed relationship.”
