Ayariga: NDC MPs Will Follow Bagbin’s Ruling, Not Supreme Court

Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, has fiercely declared that National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmakers will take the Majority in Parliament when the House reconvenes unless Speaker Alban Bagbin says otherwise. In a sharp rebuke, Ayariga dismissed the Supreme Court’s stay of execution of Bagbin’s ruling, insisting that MPs will follow the Speaker’s directive, not the court’s interference.

“We will act on the Speaker’s ruling until he tells us otherwise,” Ayariga stated bluntly on Citi FM. He accused the Supreme Court of overstepping its bounds by meddling in parliamentary matters, slamming the court for attempting to overturn Bagbin’s declaration that four parliamentary seats are vacant.

In his scathing criticism, Ayariga didn’t hold back: “The Supreme Court has no business interfering in parliamentary decisions. Its involvement in this case reeks of political bias and makes it look like an arm of the NPP. What urgency required them to swoop in within 24 hours? The court needs to back off.”

This bold stance follows Speaker Bagbin’s ruling that MPs who defect or run as independents must vacate their seats—a decision the Supreme Court has now quashed, but Ayariga remains defiant, signaling an intense parliamentary showdown ahead.
