Avoid ‘Skirt and Blouse’ Voting This Year – Asiedu Nketiah Urges Ledzokuku Constituents

The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged the people of the Ledzokuku constituency in the Greater Accra Region to vote decisively for both the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary candidates in the upcoming elections. He warned against the practice of “skirt and blouse” voting, where voters choose a presidential candidate from one party and a parliamentary candidate from another, emphasizing that such a split decision could impede local and national development.

According to Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC is poised to return to power with John Dramani Mahama as president, and it would be far more effective for him to work with a Member of Parliament (MP) from his own party. He explained that consistent support for an NDC MP, such as the incumbent Hon. Benjamin Ayiku Narteh, would ensure continuity and stability in the constituency’s development agenda.

He added, “Constantly changing MPs every four years disrupts progress. I’m here to plead with you to help us send Hon. Benjamin Ayiku back to Parliament. His re-election will align Ledzokuku’s growth efforts with the broader national policies of the NDC under John Mahama’s leadership.”

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah made these remarks during a three-day campaign tour in the Greater Accra Region, where he engaged constituents and local leaders. He expressed confidence in the NDC’s chances, revealing that his nationwide tour had shown overwhelming support for the party’s return to power.

“The people are speaking with one voice—they want John Mahama back in the Flagstaff House. From what I’m seeing, Greater Accra is on track to become the NDC’s new ‘World Bank,’” he said, referring to the region as a potential stronghold for the party.

He concluded by urging the electorate to vote massively for the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary candidates, assuring them that the party has the vision, experience, and commitment needed to transform the country and improve the lives of its citizens.
