Former Member of Parliament for Mampong constituency in the Ashanti region, Hon Francis Addai Nimoh has said most of the promises that was made by his party (NPP) during the campaign time to Ghanaians are far and over.
According to him, how can we build a sky train whiles even on the land the railway lines have not yielded more kilometers.
“Even Tema to Boankra railway line is not functioning well, where we’ve been thinking of the inland port at Boankra” he said.
In an interview, the former law maker said the government needs to come out and tell Ghanaians what the true state of the country is, and must give a justification on why he must be trusted again.
Again, he said now the president one way or the other, is accepting that things are not well in some of his recent statements and has admitted the hardship in the country but what are we doing to curb this as a country, he asks.
The current administration promised Ghanaians several developmental projects which would be undertaken when they are given the mandate to govern the country. Some of these promises have been fulfilled while the others are said to be underway. Some few weeks ago, President Akufo-Addo backed down on a promise which was included in the ruling party’s manifesto to construct the Cape Coast Harbour. The issue sparked a lot of debates and arguments among Ghanaians but the President later came out to explain why he passed those comments.
There has once again been another U-turn taken by a prominent member of the NPP government who happened to express his opinion about a project which was promised to be undertaken by the government. The NPP government promised the good people of Ghana, a sky train some few years ago. It was stated some few years ago that the nation’s capital, Accra would have the first Sky Train Station completed in August 2020. Many had forgotten about the project until the Minister for Railway Development and Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency, Hon. John Peter Amewu commented about the project.
