DORMAA, Ghana, 18 March: Residents of Dormaa Ahenkro have witnessed a major economic milestone as President John Dramani Mahama officially cut the sod for the construction of a 24-Hour Economy Model Market.

The project, launched on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, forms part of the government’s broader 24-hour economy initiative aimed at boosting productivity, creating jobs, and expanding commercial activity beyond traditional working hours.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama revealed that the modern market will feature multiple shops, structured parking spaces, and improved trading facilities, alongside essential services such as a police station, fire station, school, and banking facilities.

He noted that the integrated design is intended to create a complete commercial ecosystem that supports both traders and residents.

The President further assured that the model market will serve as a blueprint for similar developments across all 261 districts in Ghana, positioning it as a cornerstone of his administration’s economic transformation agenda.

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, expressed gratitude to the President for selecting the area as the starting point for the initiative.
