President Mahama Calls for Unity, Faith, and National Renewal in 2026 New Year Message

ACCRA, Ghana, 1 January: President John Dramani Mahama has extended warm New Year greetings to Ghanaians, expressing strong optimism that 2026 will usher in prosperity, peace, and renewed national progress.

He urged citizens to step into the new year with confidence, determination, and faith, faith in God and faith in Ghana.

In a New Year message to mark the beginning of 2026, President Mahama called on Ghanaians to embrace hope, unity, and a shared commitment to national development as the country charts its course in the months ahead.

“We are one people with a shared destiny. Whether you voted for me or not, whether you supported the NDC or not, we are all Ghanaians, and this reset is for all of us. There is no NPP Ghana. There is no CPP Ghana or NDC Ghana. There is only one Ghana. The one our forebears fought for and shed their blood to give us our freedom,” he said.

The President emphasized the need for national cohesion, urging citizens to reject divisive politics and instead embrace a renewed sense of patriotism and collective responsibility.

“Let us reject the politics of division and embrace the patriotism of nation-building. Let us disagree without being disagreeable. Let us compete in the marketplace of ideas without treating our opponents as enemies. The challenges we face are too urgent, and the opportunities before us are too precious, for us to waste time and energy on needless conflict,” he stated.

President Mahama painted a vivid picture of the Ghana he envisions one anchored on opportunity, integrity, and social justice.

“I see a Ghana where every child, regardless of their background, can dream and achieve those dreams. I see a Ghana where hard work is rewarded, where merit triumphs over mediocrity, where integrity is celebrated, and where corruption is punished. I see a Ghana where our young people don’t have to risk their lives crossing the Sahara or the Mediterranean in search of opportunities because opportunities abound right here at home. I see a Ghana where our senior citizens live in dignity, where our sick are cared for and where our vulnerable are protected. I see a Ghana respected on the global stage for the quality of our democracy, the vibrancy of our economy, and the character of our people. I see a Ghana that is a light unto Africa and a beacon unto the world,” he said.

He stressed that this vision is not mere aspiration but an achievable national goal, urging Ghanaians to approach 2026 with renewed belief and resolve.

“This is not wishful thinking. This is the Ghana we are building together. This is the Ghana that is within our reach. As we enter 2026, let us move forward with confidence, determination, and faith. Faith in God, faith in Ghana, and faith in ourselves,” he said.

President Mahama concluded by encouraging citizens to push beyond limitations and remain committed to national progress.

“Let us build on the foundation we have laid. Let us work harder, dream bigger, and achieve even greater things. Let us prove that the promise that inspired our founding fathers and the promise that has sustained us through trials and triumphs is not just a promise, but a prophecy waiting to be fulfilled,” he said.
