(AUDIO): Mahama Slams NPP for Shoddy Road Projects, Promises Sustainable Development

John Dramani Mahama, Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for hurriedly commissioning substandard road projects just months before the elections.

Speaking at a rally in Asesewa, in the Upper Manya Krobo constituency, he accused the NPP of prioritizing electoral gain over quality infrastructure.

“The NPP is busy commissioning sampitii roads just a few months to elections. These roads are poorly constructed and will deteriorate in two or three months,” Mr. Mahama remarked, expressing disappointment at what he described as an unsustainable approach to development.

He questioned why the government had failed to address the area’s bad roads during its eight years in power, only to rush subpar projects at the end of its term.

He assured residents that an NDC government would take a different approach, focusing on durable and high-quality road infrastructure.

“They ignored the poor roads for years and are now engaging in shoddy last-minute work. I can promise you that a new NDC government will fix all the bad roads in the Asesewa area with the quality and durability you deserve,” he pledged.

Beyond roads, Mr. Mahama outlined additional development plans for the constituency.

He announced that the Senkesua Day Secondary School would be upgraded to a full boarding school under an NDC government, complete with girls’ and boys’ dormitories to address accommodation challenges.

He also promised to resolve the water crisis in the area by ensuring the availability of potable drinking water for Asesewa and surrounding communities.

“An NDC government will bring lasting solutions, not quick fixes. We will upgrade schools, improve access to clean water, and provide infrastructure that meets the needs of the people,” he said.

Mr. Mahama’s message resonated with the crowd, who cheered in support of his vision for sustainable development and improved living conditions in the Asesewa enclave.
