The General Secretary of Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantoah is calling on the parliamentary ad-hoc committee chaired by Samuel Attah Akyea to avoid tarnishing the image of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare on a flimsy tape.
Speaking in an interview on UTV monitored by Ahotoronline.com, she asked about parliament’s interest in the audio and why setting up a committee to investigate people’s conversations has been recorded as a leaked tape, while there are a lot of issues that need such attention.
According to her, why is parliament not setting up a committee that will work on how Ghanaians turned 18 will get registered since the EC has decided to ignore the pleas of many Ghanaians who cannot afford to register in the district offices?
“You do not bring a man of this stature too low like this, The IGP of the country office is very respected by the republic, and you don’t put the IGP in public like this” she angrily said.
She raised the concerns that, for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Ghana to say in public that he is in pain, do we think armed robbers will respect him?
