AUDIO: Ghana in Final Stages of Establishing Women’s Development Bank – President Mahama

ACCRA, Ghana, 6 March: President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that Ghana is in the final stages of establishing a Women’s Development Bank to support female entrepreneurs across the country.

In his Independence Day address, the President said the initiative is aimed at addressing the long-standing challenges women face in accessing affordable credit for business development.

He noted that women form the backbone of Ghana’s informal economy but often rely on high-interest loans or limited microfinance services.

The new bank will provide tailored financial services, training, and mentorship for women in business.

President Mahama said the initiative will support women across various sectors, including agriculture, fashion, beauty, and technology.

“Whether you are a farmer in the Volta Region, a hairdresser in Nima, a seamstress in Komenda, or a tech entrepreneur in Accra, this bank will support your growth,” he stated.

The President stressed that empowering women economically would ultimately strengthen families, communities, and the national economy.
