John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged supporters to ensure they vote correctly by looking for the party’s umbrella symbol on the ballot paper in the upcoming December 7th elections.
He explained that while the NDC’s position, traditionally represented by the number 8, may not appear on the ballot, voters should focus on identifying the umbrella symbol and the party’s colors which are red, white, green and black.
During his two-day campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, John Mahama made a point to demonstrate proper voting procedures at each stop.
Using a large mock ballot paper, he showed voters how to avoid mistakes that could result in rejected ballots.
This hands-on demonstration, he believes, will reduce the number of spoiled ballots and ensure more valid votes for the NDC.
John Mahama also advised voters to carefully inspect their ballot papers for any irregularities, such as stains or missing validation stamps.
He stressed the importance of ensuring the Electoral Commission’s stamp is visible on the back of the paper before casting their vote.
To ensure votes are properly counted, John Mahama outlined these key steps for voters:
- Look for the umbrella symbol.
- Thumbprint in the empty box next to the umbrella, making sure the mark is clear and within the box.
- Clean any excess ink from your fingers.
- Fold the ballot paper neatly along its length.
- Drop the ballot in the designated box.
By following these instructions, Mr. Mahama emphasized, voters can ensure their support for the NDC is properly registered, helping the party secure victory.
