Charles K. Baah, a Communication Team Member of the NPP in the Ablekuma North constituency in the Greater Accra region, has voiced his concerns regarding the lack of communication from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) regarding the current low schedule of electricity supply in the country.
In an interview with Anigye Hene Abeiku Yamoah on Property Daybreak, Baah emphasized the need for transparency and communication from ECG to keep Ghanaians informed about the situation.
Baah pointed out that while ECG is responsible for supplying electricity, they are not the manufacturers of power. He urged ECG to be forthcoming about the challenges being faced by power producers like the Volta River Authority (VRA) so that Ghanaians can understand the root causes of the current electricity supply issues.
Highlighting the importance of transparency, Baah stressed that ECG has a responsibility to inform the public about the situation at hand rather than keeping the entire country in suspense. He emphasized that as consumers who pay for electricity services, Ghanaians deserve to know the reasons behind the disruptions in power supply.
Reflecting on past experiences of dumsor in 1996 and 1997, Baah acknowledged that the current situation, while challenging, is not as severe as it was during those periods. However, he reiterated the importance of clear communication from ECG to manage expectations and address concerns among the populace.
In summary, Baah called on ECG to fulfill its duty to the Ghanaian people by providing transparent and timely updates on the electricity supply situation, thereby ensuring that citizens are adequately informed and prepared.
