Member of the National Democratic Congress Greater Accra Regional Communications Team, Loretta Nana Hemaa Frimpong wants to know what will happen to the innocent people who were brutilized by the Military at Ashaiman over the death of one Imoro Sherif now that the Police has arrested some 6 suspects.

The Police after a week of sustained intelligence-led operation have arrested the key suspects involved in the murder of Imoro Sherrif, the soldier who was killed at Taifa Ashiaman on 4th March 2023.

The arrest was solely police intelligence work without the involvement of the military.

Trooper Imoro Sherif was laid to rest on Thursday, March 9.

The soldier, according to sources, was returning from Taifa and heading toward his residence at Zongo-Laka in Ashaiman when he was attacked by unknown assailants and stabbed to death.

Though he was carrying a laptop and other electronic gadgets the attackers made away with only his iPhone.

The murder prompted soldiers to invade Ashaiman on Tuesday brutalising residents in the hope of arresting the suspects.

The invasion by the soldiers has been roundly condemned by Ghanaians. Amnesty International Ghana has also condemned the action by the military.

Appearing on Ahotor 92.3 Fm’s morning show as guest, A member of the NDC Greater Accra Regional Communication Team Loretta Nana Hemaa called for compensation for the innocent people who were brutalized as they were beaten wrongly.

The six accused persons in connection with the killing of the 21-year-old soldier, Private Imoro Sherrif, in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region was arranged before court and have been remanded in police custody.

The six were arrested between March 9th and 12th at different locations.

They were arraigned at the Ashaiman District Court presided over by Simon Gaga on Monday morning March 13th,2023.

According to the prosecution, two of the accused persons robbed the soldier and in the process, one of them stabbed him in the arm.

The other four are said to have bought a stolen mobile phone taken from the deceased soldier.

In court Monday morning, Abdul Fatawu Alhassan, the defence counsel for the four accused persons said to have bought the stolen phone prayed the court to grant the four bail as they were not part of the robbery nor the alleged killing.

The prosecution opposed the bail application and said the accused persons have no permanent place of abode.

The court remanded the four accused persons together with the two other accused persons said to have been involved in the robbery in police custody.

They are to re-appear on March 27, 2023.
