National Communication Team Member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahmoud Kabore has indicated that, the Western Togoland saga is a deliberate attempt by some people to influence the 2024 general elections in the Volta region.
He indicated that, because someone thinks certain political party gets more votes from the Volta region hence this moves to suppress the vote in the area.
His comment comes after the Western Togoland secretariate issues warning to the people in the Volta region not to participate in the upcoming elections.
In the letter, they said failure for them to do so, will face the consequences.
Reacting to this, Kabore asked on why this happens only in election year.
He said the next election is not about NDC and NPP but rather, gaining our second independence as a country.
