Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, has urged the Ghanaian government to set a high standard in the upcoming elections.
Addressing dignitaries at the inaugural Diplomatic Honours ceremony in Accra, Dr. Ibn Chambas emphasized the importance of a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
He directed a pointed message to President Akufo-Addo, urging him to ensure that his administration’s handling of the elections leaves a lasting positive legacy.
Dr. Ibn Chambas highlighted that the conduct of these elections would not only reflect on the president’s tenure but also serve as an example for democratic governance across Africa.
