Former deputy Minister of works and housing , MP for Bodi in the Western region, HON. Sampson Ahi, has taken a swipe at the Minister of Works and Housing, HON Samuel Atta Akyea over a pronouncement made by the Minister, suggestive to the fact that the former Deputy Minister is likely to face prosecution over what he termed as perpetuation of fraud by the previous NDC government led by Mr. John Dramani Mahama in the matter of the saglemi housing units.
The Minister during a presentation in the floor of Parliament last week, emphatically stated that, some appointees who served in the former government feared going to jail over wanton wrongdoing in the contract sum of the affordable housing units, to a tune of 200 million dollars respectively.
Mr. Ahi said to Tema based AHOTOR FM (92.3) Breakfast show on Monday that, the NDC government did no wrong pertaining the processes and contractual agreements in the saglemi projects.
In the year 2012, the previous NDC regime, decided to build over 5000 units of housing units in Saglemi in the greater Accra region to augment the deficit of the county’s accommodation problem which have been lingering on for years in the country.
Mr. Ahi told Citizen Kofi Owusu that is not true that an amount of 80 million dollars as appropriation fees as it have been espoused by the current sector Minister.
There are raging controversies regarding the construction of the affordable housing units by the John Mahama administration and the Akufo Addo government over allegations of Financial misappropriation, and fraud.
The former deputy Minister revealed that the NPP government is on a wide goose chase and disclose that, HON. Atta Akyea is engaging in political bigotry and witch-hunt aim to discredit appointees in the previous government.
The NDC MP call on Ghanaians to despise the rant by the government on the issue, and charge President Akufo Addo, and Hon Samuel Atta Akyea, to desist from making spurious allegations against former appointees in the past NDC administration regarding the Saglemi gate.
Over 1,500 housing units are expected to be completed in December 2020 to give relief to especially Civil servants , and private working class in the country, by virtue of giving them accommodation on terms and condition basis.
