‘Asiedu Nketia Is An Astute Politician, He Controls NDC Caucus In Parliament’ – Majority Leader Alleges

Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has disclosed the person behind the NDC Caucus’ grand scheme in Parliament and what led to Speaker, Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four seats vacant.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, in an interview with the media, revealed that what happened in Parliament is a political agenda by the National Democratic Congress.

He noted that the Minority in Parliament is controlled by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly called “General Mosquito”, and they are doing this so the New Patriotic Party bench in the Legislative House will play to their gallery but stressed they won’t fall for the NDC’s trap.

The Speaker, acting in accordance with Article 97, declared the Fomena, Agona West, Suhum and Amenfi Central seats vacant because their Members of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, Cynthia Morrison, Kwadwo Asante and Peter Kwakye-Ackah have intended to contest the December 7 elections as independent parliamentary candidates.

Afenyo-Markin remarked that the NDC National Chairman is the one “controlling Parliament. All the game going on is Asiedu Nketia’s agenda and I am admire him for his politics. It’s a game. I won’t condemn him but it allows me to also think and face him strategically”.

He described Asiedu Nketia as one of the finest political brains who knows how to play the political game and that he (Afenyo-Markin) doesn’t underestimate the NDC Chairman.

“Asiedu Nketia, in spite of my disagreement with him, he is an astute politician. When he talks, he knows why he is talking. Asiedu Nketia is a good politician; I will give it to him. I may disagree with him but I won’t condemn him. I pay attention to him.

“When he talks, I listen and derive a strategy from it. When Asiedu Nketia mounts a political platform or does his antics, I’m one person who pays serious attention”
