The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 34 suspects during a large-scale operation targeting drug trafficking at Thinka Island, a known drug hub in Kumasi in a decisive move to combat drug-related crimes.
The operation, which was carried out under the directive of the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, marks a significant milestone in efforts to reclaim Thinka Island from the grip of illicit drug activity and criminal elements.
According to the police, various suspected illegal substances were seized during the raid and are currently being processed for forensic examination. The suspects found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“This operation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the fight against drug-related crimes and the protection of life and property,” the Regional Police Command stated. “It demonstrates our resolve to ensure public safety and restore peace within our communities.”
The Ashanti Regional Police Command further assured the public that similar operations will be carried out across the region as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks to restore peace and stability to affected communities and maintain law and order.
