Asante Kotoko right-back Emmanuel Kotei ruled out the rest of the season

The right-back was diagnosed with a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament with involvement of both meniscus in his right leg.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been dealt a huge blow after announcing that defender Emmanuel Kotei will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury picked in training at the Adako Jachie Complex prior to their FA Cup game against Accerler8z FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday.

Club statement reads: “Asante Kotoko can confirm that right-back Emmanuel Kotei’s season has painfully come to an end after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The incident occurred during the team’s Thursday training session and following a series of tests carried out on Kotei by our Medical Team, the right-back was diagnosed with a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament with involvement of both meniscus in his right leg. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days”.

Kotei joined from Nsoatreman FC on a three-year deal ahead of the 2024/25 season after an impressive campaign for the reigning FA Cup Champions.
