Asante Kotoko Faces Venue Crisis as Baba Yara Stadium Fails GFA Club Licensing Test

A major setback has hit Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s top football clubs, as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Club Licensing Committee has rejected the Baba Yara Stadium as a suitable venue for the team’s home games.

The decision, made due to the stadium’s non-compliance with the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025, has left Kotoko scrambling for an alternative venue ahead of the league’s resumption on March 7.

According to club sources, the Baba Yara Stadium was deemed unfit due to the absence of a designated safe zone, a critical requirement under the new safety protocols.

With time running out, Kotoko is under pressure to either rectify the safety concerns at the Baba Yara Stadium or secure a new home ground.

One possible option emerging is the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese, which could potentially host Kotoko’s home games.

However, the club must act swiftly to confirm a new venue and ensure compliance with the GFA’s licensing requirements.

The situation has sparked concerns among Kotoko fans, who are worried about the impact of the venue change on the team’s performance and overall fan experience.

As the clock ticks down to the league’s resumption, all eyes are on Asante Kotoko to resolve the venue crisis and get back to competing on the pitch.
