Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak Commemorate May 9 Disaster

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have marked the 24th anniversary of the May 9 stadium disaster, which claimed 126 lives at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko posted a solemn message, calling for an end to violence at match centers.

“We will continue to mourn our fallen sons and daughters and forever stand against any form of violence at our match venues,” they stated.

Hearts of Oak also paid tribute, saying, “Rivals on the pitch, united in grief.” Both clubs honored the victims, reflecting on the tragedy and its impact on Ghanaian football.
