Nigerian rising music sensation, Asake has recently unveiled an exciting documentary chronicling his journey from obscurity to superstardom.
The documentary, which was shared on his Instagram page on September 23, 2024, is narrated by none other than the award-winning British actor, Idris Elba.
The trailer for the documentary kicks off from the inner city part of Lagos, where Asake spent his formative years, providing a glimpse into the artist’s humble beginnings and the environment that shaped his musical aspirations.
This documentary release comes on the heels of Asake’s third album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which features collaborations with industry superstars such as Wizkid, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilaa.
The title ‘Lungu Boy,’ loosely translating to “ghetto boy,” reflects Asake’s remarkable rise from a relatively unknown artist to a music superstar. It appears that Asake aims to provide deeper insights and context into his extraordinary journey through this documentary.
Notably, Asake was presented with an O2 Arena sold-out plaque and a BRIT silver plaque for his album ‘Work of Art’ by Idris Elba at his latest O2 Arena concert.
‘Work of Art’ marked Asake’s second album to receive a BRIT silver plaque, following his debut album, ‘Mr Money With The Vibes,’ which also achieved silver certification in the UK.
His success has not been limited to his home country, as Asake has also made a significant impact in the United Kingdom, with all three of his LPs claiming the top position on the UK Apple Music Album Chart. This remarkable achievement solidifies Asake’s status as the only Nigerian artist to accomplish this feat.
