“As You Take Up Your Positions, You Carry Forward the Legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah” – President Mahama to New Envoys

ACCRA, Ghana, 19th November,2025: President John Dramani Mahama has charged Ghana’s newly sworn-in Ambassadors and High Commissioners to uphold and advance the enduring legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, particularly his unwavering commitment to Pan-Africanism.

Addressing the envoys at the Presidency on Wednesday, November 19, President Mahama emphasised that the global diplomatic landscape is evolving rapidly, requiring Ghana’s representatives to demonstrate innovation, strategic insight, and measurable results in their missions abroad.

Diplomacy today is highly dynamic and demands strategic thinking, strong partnerships and measurable impact. In this evolving world, Ghana must remain visible, influential and respected. Our country has long been known as a beacon of peace, stability and democracy. We must sustain this reputation and build upon it,” he said.

The President noted that since the era of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the nation has carried a proud vision of a united, sovereign, and self-determining Africa. He reminded the diplomats that they are now custodians of that vision.

Since the era of our first President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana has carried an enduring vision of an Africa that is strong, that is united, sovereign and capable of defining its own destiny and future. As you take up your positions, you carry forward that legacy of Dr Kwame Nkrumah,” he stated.

He further urged them to ensure that Ghana’s image abroad continues to reflect leadership, fairness, and unwavering commitment to African unity.

Wherever you serve, Ghana must be known for leadership, for fairness and unwavering commitments to the Pan-African cause,” he added.

Newly Sworn-In High Commissioners and Ambassadors

The ceremony saw the swearing-in of 11 distinguished diplomats, each assigned to represent Ghana in strategic countries across the world. They include:

1. Mrs. Theresa Adjei-Mensah – Ambassador to the Czech Republic

2. Dr. Felix Kumah Godwin Anebo – Ambassador to the Republic of Senegal

3. Mrs. Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey – Ambassador to the Italian Republic

4. Mr. Kenneth Akibate – Ambassador to Burkina Faso

5. Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo – High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya

6. Prof. Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah – Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt

7. Brigadier-General Alhassan Abu – Ambassador to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire

8. Amb. Doris Adzo Denyo Brese – High Commissioner to the Commonwealth of Australia

9. Ms. Elizabeth Nyantakyi – High Commissioner to the Republic of Zambia

10. Mr. Eddison Mensah Agbenyegah – Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands

11. Mr. Edward Kwaku Cofie – Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria

President Mahama encouraged the envoys to strengthen bilateral ties, promote Ghana’s interests, and protect the welfare of Ghanaian citizens abroad while reinforcing the country’s longstanding role as a leader in African diplomacy.
