“As we celebrate Eid, let us not forget our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate” – President Mahama

Accra, Ghana – President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has called on Muslims in Ghana to remember the less fortunate during the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations.

According to him, this is the best opportunity to support orphans, widows, and those in need.

“As we celebrate Eid, let us not forget our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate and are struggling, such as orphans and widows,” he said.

President Mahama, who joined the Chief Imam, Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, and other Muslim dignitaries for the 2025 Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers at the Black Star Square, emphasized that showing kindness is the essence of Ramadan.

“And when we leave here after Salah, everyone should look for an orphan, a widow, or a needy person and show them an act of kindness. That is what Ramadan is about, our acts of kindness that Ramadan inspired,” he said.

He further stated that reaching out to those in greatest need is not only an Islamic duty but also a national responsibility.

“And let us reach out to those who are in greatest need. This is not only an Islamic duty, but it is also a national responsibility because a nation that cares for its vulnerable is a nation that will always be blessed by Allah,” he stated.
