AROCHA Ghana Advocates for Accountability in the Fight Against Galamsey

AROCHA Ghana has been at the forefront of the fight against galamsey, urging swift action to combat the escalating issue of illegal mining in Ghana. The organization emphasizes the importance of holding leaders accountable for their commitments to address galamsey.

Mr. Daryl Bosu, Deputy Director of AROCHA Ghana, stresses that officers who fail to perform their duties should be replaced. Moreover, he highlights the need to provide adequate resources to these officers, as logistical challenges often hinder their ability to respond effectively.

The fight against galamsey has been ongoing, with President Akufo-Addo launching Operation Vanguard in 2017 to combat illegal mining. However, the problem persists, with many Ghanaians calling for increased action to protect the country’s natural resources.

AROCHA Ghana’s call for accountability is timely, as it emphasizes the need for transparency and effectiveness in addressing galamsey.

By demanding accountability from officers and providing them with the necessary resources, Ghana can make significant strides in combating illegal mining and protecting its environment.
