The Assemblyman of Sefwi Asafo in the Sefwi WiawsoMunicipality, Mr Fredrick Nana Kwarteng narrated, he received a call from the police station about how armed robbers had broken into the station by smashing the back window and after getting there, the incident was exact as he heard.
He said the thieves had their way into the Sefwi Asafo Police Station, stole firearms and ammunition from the police inspector’s office. The thieves smashed the back window to gain entry and made off with an AK-47 rifle and other firearms.
This incident is still under investigation, but it’s not the first time Sefwi Asafo has experienced armed robbery. In 2022, a robbery syndicate was on a rampage in the area, targeting World Vision staff, police officers, and drivers.
In a separate incident in 2021, Sergeant Thomas Akoka was attacked by armed robbers while on escort duty, sustaining eight gunshot wounds . These incidents highlight the need for increased security measures in the area.
The authorities are working to investigate the latest incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
