‘Are you happy with the current state of our education system’-Baba Jamal ask dep edu minister
Former MP for Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern region, Baba Jamal is critical of the Deputy Minister of Education, Rev John Ntim Fordjour.
Baba Jamal’s critique comes on the back of the Deputy Education’s response to the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) on food shortages in the second cycle schools.
According to Baba Jamal, he wonders if a man of God could maintain such attitudes of harsh words and wouldn’t also take advice.
Baba Jamal believes, the Deputy Minister’s attitude could be a factor for the educational decline in the country.
Speaking to the media this morning, he quizzed if the Deputy Education Minister is happy with what is going on in the education system.
The former Akwatia MP said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in their manifesto for a free SHS insisted on a gradual process, which the govt chided and the NPP refused to listen, hence the country’s educational system is paying dearly for it.
“We warned you not to implement the free SHS policy at once but you refused; now we are witnessing all the problems we talked about”
‘Now the educational standards are falling, our curriculum is bad, we don’t even have better time table for our schools’.
The President of the NAGRAT, Angel Carbonu at a press conference called on the government to do more to address the food shortage in the second cycle schools.
According to him, the national buffer stock is complaining of shortage of facility for storage in the various schools hence are unable to store food for the students and this is the cause of food shortage CHASS has been complaining about.
However, the deputy minister accused the NAGRAT president of talking from NDC hymn book.
