Dr. Anthony Sorkpah, the Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) known as “NDC Insight,” has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of corruption and mismanagement.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s program Gbloe na ku, Dr. Sorkpah alleged that the NPP has leased over 320 mining sites, contributing significantly to environmental issues and resource depletion in Ghana.
He criticized the government for allegedly prioritizing personal gain over the country’s welfare.
Dr. Sorkpah emphasized that sending individuals involved in corruption to combat illegal mining, or galamsey, is ineffective. He argued that the NPP is more focused on “finding ways to steal” from public resources than on addressing the pressing issues faced by Ghanaians.
Highlighting concerns raised by the United Nations about Ghana’s water scarcity projections by 2030, Dr. Sorkpah warned that the ongoing galamsey and rising costs of water purification could worsen the country’s water crisis.
Urging Ghanaians to vote out the current administration, Dr. Sorkpah argued that Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have failed to safeguard Ghana’s resources and have misused public funds, leaving the country to suffer.
