Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu, MP for Madina, has warned that the parliamentary sitting on Tuesday, October 22, is poised to be a “total showdown.”
He asserted that if the Supreme Court seeks to create anarchy, the members of Parliament will respond accordingly, stating, “they will get what they want.” Sosu referenced Article 3 of the 1992 Constitution, which allows citizens to defend the constitutional order against any attempts to undermine it.
His remarks follow the Supreme Court’s decision to stay the Speaker’s directive, instructing the four MPs whose seats were declared vacant to return to work in Parliament.
In an interview with the media, the Madina MP emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution’s sanctity, irrespective of an individual’s status.
He indicated that their approach on Tuesday would focus on protecting constitutional integrity.
Sosu criticized those who have called for what he described as “chaotic orders,” suggesting they did not consider the potential repercussions of their actions.
He clarified that while they have not acted against the court, they will not permit anyone to violate constitutional provisions, outlining their strategic plan for the upcoming parliamentary session.
