The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has amplified calls for the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct a forensic audit of the voters’ register ahead of the upcoming general elections.
According to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, it is in the national interest and in the spirit of transparency and accountability that the EC should not shy away from the demands for this audit.
She emphasized that such an exercise would serve as a crucial step to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and provide assurance to all stakeholders involved.
Speaking from her campaign office in Accra on Monday, the NDC running mate underscored the importance of this move as a confidence-building measure for the Ghanaian electorate, especially in the lead-up to both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
By embracing this call for a forensic audit, she argued, the EC would demonstrate its commitment to fairness, thereby enhancing public trust in the electoral process.
