The Global Security for Africa Research and Good Governance (GLOSARGG) has observed with concern the Electoral Commission’s consistently unfriendly and biased treatment of opposition parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the 2024 elections approach.
GLOSARGG warns that the Electoral Commission’s antagonistic stance toward the NDC is indicative of a potentially troubled electoral process. If Ghanaians remain passive and continue to uncritically support the Commission despite these troubling signs, the 2024 General Elections could be a recipe for chaos.
We urge the Peace Council and all Ghanaians committed to peace to take a stand now. It is crucial to call the Electoral Commission to account, ensuring that the election process is transparent, free, and fair, and that it is conducted without violence.
