Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, NDC’s running mate has slammed the current government’s disastrous handling of Free SHS, vowing that the NDC will fix the chaos they, the NPP has caused.
“We won’t cancel it—we’ll improve it,” she declared, exposing the double track system, poor infrastructure, and inadequate resources under the current regime.
She made it clear: the NDC built the foundation for Free SHS, and only the NDC can repair and improve it. Ghanaians deserve better, and the NDC is ready to deliver!
Addressing a rally in Sekondi during her campaign tour of the Western Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang—who actually knows what it means to manage education, reminded Ghanaians that it was under the NDC that Community Day Schools were built and Progressively Free SHS was initiated.
The propaganda machine of the ruling NPP can scream all it wants, but the truth is the NDC will not abandon a programme it helped lay the foundation for.
In no uncertain terms, she exposed the failures of the current administration.
“Are they seriously suggesting that we should ignore the disastrous double track system that’s killing the quality of education in our SHS?
Are they comfortable with the fact that our children are being fed subpar meals? Do they think we should sit back and watch our schools suffer without the tools, equipment, and resources necessary for quality education?” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang quizzed.
She noted that, the NDC is ready with a comprehensive plan to correct the mishandling of Free SHS—investing in infrastructure, ending the chaos of double track, providing proper teaching and learning materials, and ensuring our children are fed.
The electorate has a clear choice: either continue with a government that doesn’t care about the future of education, or vote for Mr. John Dramani Mahama to actually deliver on promises, improve education, and create jobs through the 24-Hour Economy policy.
Ghanaians, the time for real leadership is now!
