The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has questioned the integrity of the Akufo-Addo government over the controversial “Agyapadie” document.
Speaking at the palace of the Bawku Naba, Mahama asserted that while the document may be dismissed as fabricated, its implementation is undeniable.
The “Agyapadie” document alleges a strategic plan by President Akufo-Addo and his associates to annex state assets for personal gain. The document has sparked controversy and debate among Ghanaians, especially the NDC and the NPP.
President Akufo-Addo recently responded to the allegations, claiming that his political opponents fabricated and disseminated the document to tarnish his reputation.
However, Mahama emphasised that the actions outlined in the document have been visibly carried out by the current administration, casting doubt on the President’s denial.
He questioned how a purportedly fabricated document could accurately reflect the government’s actions.
“Recently there was an issue about a document called “Agyapadie, they said it’s fabricated. But even if it is fabricated, the implementation is not fabricated because everything in that document has been implemented. So if somebody started and fabricated that document, then the person has really read the minds of people.
“Because how they could have written that document and read the minds of Nana Akufo-Addo and his family that this is what we were going to do. Then that person is a proper creative writer because everything in that document has been implemented.”
The former president accused the president and his associates have implementing a state capture and buying government properties and lands.
He said investors are not willing to invest in the country because of the “economic mess” created by the current government.
