King of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale, and Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, the king of Mamprugu, have pushed their kinsmen to demonstrate to the outside world that the two kingdoms are peaceful.
They assert that it is the duty of the two kingdoms to uphold the honour and dignity of their two distinguished sons who are running for president in the 2024 election- Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia or former President Johnson Mahama
“We should be proud of ourselves that the two leading candidates for Ghana’s presidency are the two distinguished sons of Mamprugu and Yagbon. This year is election year.” We all have a great deal of responsibility for this. Therefore, I pleaded with everyone to behave well.
“Ghana is the focus of the 2024 election, and we need to demonstrate to the entire world that our country is capable of running its own affairs.
It is imperative that we strictly abide by the guidelines established by the Electoral Commission of Ghana regarding our electoral procedure.
Yidana Zakaria, the regional minister for the North East, praised both monarchs for their dedication to maintaining peace and security in their respective kingdoms.
He emphasised how important it is for kingdom inhabitants to behave peacefully.
“As northerners, we have an obligation to interpret the results of this election as a victory for ourselves, regardless of the outcome—that being Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia or former President Johnson Mahama—and to take the lead in maintaining and defending national peace.
“This opportunity will pass if we misbehave and create chaos, and it will take us decades, if not centuries, to get another opportunity like this.”
“So let us demonstrate to the outside world that we are peaceful people”. He said.
