Dela Edem, a member of the Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is an ideal choice to help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lose the 2024 general elections.
In his view, the appointment of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Energy Minister, as the running mate for the NPP signals the party’s impending move to opposition.
During an interview on Ahotor FM‘s Simpieso show with host Emmanuel Martey, Dela Edem stated, “We know Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s track record in the Education and Energy Ministries. I can confidently say he is the right choice to help the NPP lose the 2024 elections and take them to opposition.”
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the NPP and the current Vice-President, has chosen Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the December 2024 general election.
Last Tuesday, Dr. Bawumia met with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House to discuss his selection for running mate.
During this meeting, President Akufo-Addo offered his advice and shared his thoughts on the choice. Dr. Prempeh, also known as ‘Napo,’ will be formally presented to the party’s National Council before being unveiled at a later date.
Dela Edem reacting to this mentioned on Ahotor FM that certain past statements made by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh could harm the NPP’s chances in the 2024 elections.
