According to a close friend of the football star, Michael Essien, who has spoken to Saddick Adams behind the scenes, it has been clarified that Essien has not gone bankrupt as speculated in the media.
The former Black Stars player has made it clear that he will not be giving any interviews to address the auction of his houses.
The two houses, one in East Legon and the other in Trassaco are no longer under Essien’s care, and he seems unconcerned about them.
The friend explained that Essien had entered into a mortgage agreement with the estate developers but found it unreasonable to keep up with the high monthly mortgage fees.
Consequently, he chose to default on the payments, leading to the auction of the houses to recoup his investments. Additionally, the friend mentioned that apart from these properties, Essien also owns expensive properties in London, Spain, and Ghana.
