The Member of Parliament of Joaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has refuted claims that the parliament sanctioned the new fees for dialysis treatment instituted by the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).
This is after the hospital began charging new fees for the cost of dialysis.
The cost of this treatment was GH¢380 but has been increased to GH¢491.
The hike, according to the Renal Patients Association of Ghana, will further exacerbate the financial strain on patients already struggling to manage previous bills.
Speaking to the media, Mr Akandoh who doubles as the Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament clarified that the House did not approve the new fees being charged by the hospital.
