Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections in charge of I.T. for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of attempting to sow chaos in the country ahead of the 2024 elections.
He argues that the recent limited registration exercise indicates the EC’s intention to create disorder.
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, has raised concerns about the voter registration figures reported by the EC.
While the EC reported 25,287 registered voters for Day 2, Dr. Boamah claims the NDC recorded a lower figure of 19,267. He further disputes the EC’s total registration figure of 43,417 for Day 3, stating the actual number is 48,616.
As of May 10, the EC reports a total of 143,014 registered voters, with the Greater Accra region registering 17,837 voters and the Ashanti region registering the highest at 25,558.
The EC aims to meet its registration target before the exercise concludes, with additional registrations from various regions.
Discussing this on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s morning show ‘AdeKyee Mu Nsem‘ with host Citizen Kofi Owusu, Dr. Rashid Tanko urged stakeholders to engage with the EC to prevent post-2024 election chaos.
