Abraham Koomson, the Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), didn’t hold back in challenging President Nana Akufo-Addo’s assertions that another term for former President John Mahama would obliterate his accomplishments.
Mr. Koomson minced no words, stating that Akufo-Addo’s supposed legacy is nothing to write home about. He even suggested that not even Akufo-Addo’s right-hand man, Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is eager to carry on the same path.
At a rally in Doboro, Greater Accra, President Akufo-Addo rallied his supporters, cautioning them against voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate in the December elections. He expressed deep concern that a victory for Mr. Mahama would undo the progress made during his tenure.
However, when Abraham Koomson took the airwaves on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s ‘Yepe Ahunu‘ program with host Nana Dogbe, he vehemently disputed the President’s claims, insisting that Akufo-Addo’s track record is far from praiseworthy.

Turning his attention to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s proposal to incentivize churches to undertake more developmental projects, Mr. Koomson offered a different perspective. He argued that such incentives are not a priority for the country at the moment.
Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had announced plans to encourage churches to engage in developmental projects instead of imposing taxes on them. He stressed that churches could play a significant role in the nation’s development through partnerships with the government.
This announcement came amid ongoing discussions about potentially taxing churches. During a meeting with the clergy in the Bono East region as part of his nationwide tour, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the valuable contributions of churches, suggesting that instead of taxing them, the government should consider compensating them for their efforts.
Abraham Koomson, however, urged Dr. Bawumia to address the challenges facing Ghanaians before focusing on incentivizing churches. He emphasized the need for immediate action to alleviate the hardships experienced by the populace.
