Asante Kotoko Defeats Legon Cities 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium on GPL Matchday 29
Kumasi Asante Kotoko emerged victorious against Legon Cities with a convincing 2-0 win during Ghana Premier League Matchday 29 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium at a huge backlashed from the supporters some time past.
From the kickoff, Asante Kotoko demonstrated a strong attacking intent, putting pressure on the Legon Cities defense. The opening goal came in the first half, with a splendid performer from Baba Yahaya who was brought down in the penalty box which resulted in a penalty awarded for Stephen Mukwala to convert it beautifully in the 10th minutes. The fans at the Baba Yara Stadium erupted in cheers, as the home team took the lead.
Legon Cities attempted to respond, but their efforts were thwarted by Asante Kotoko’s solid defense. The Kotoko midfield also played a pivotal role in controlling the tempo of the game, preventing Legon Cities from creating significant chances.
In the second half, Asante Kotoko continued to assert their dominance. The team capitalized on a well-executed counter attack , resulting in the second goal through Yussif Nurudeen in the 49th minutes . This put the game out of reach for Legon Cities, who struggled to regain their footing.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko Now lies at 10th position with 40 points after playing 29 games (11 wins, 7 draws and 11 losses) whiles Legon Cities lies at 11th position with38 points after playing 28 games with one outstanding match .
