Abraham Koomson, the Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), is encouraging drivers to consider joining the GFL for better welfare benefits.
Mr. Koomson asserts that the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), which serves as the main body for drivers’ unions, does not prioritize the interests of drivers as it aligns closely with the government.
During an interview on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s Yepe Ahunu program with host Nana Dogbe, Mr. Koomson emphasized the importance of unity among different drivers’ unions to achieve common objectives, suggesting that the GFL offers the most advantageous platform for them.
He expressed his belief that the GPRTU collaborates with the government to exploit drivers, pointing out that it has been overdue for transport fares to be increased given the continuous rise in fuel prices.

At the official launch of the tracker at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Wednesday, April 10, Oppong Nkrumah disclosed that the tracker encompasses over 13,000 projects nationwide.
The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi highlighted that the tracker represents an enhanced version of the Delivery Tracker introduced by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2020.
However, the Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) urged the government to focus on addressing the economy’s challenges rather than engaging in political activities.
